Don moved from Ontario to British Columbia and like most on the coast, he took up fishing. In 1969 he began his career as a commercial fisherman working as a deck hand on draggers and later as a skipper on long liners and packers.
From Sidney to Alaska, he always took his guitar along. When fishing season ended every year he played in local country bands on Vancouver Island as a bass player and vocalist. Some of the bands were The Drifters, Dusters, Country Contract, Breakin’ Loose and Bar None.
At age 67 he has produced his first CD of traditional country tunes called Western Style. The instruments are all acoustic and the songs pay tribute to Classic Country...helping to keep old style country music alive and well.
It is simple and clean. You could be listening to these musicians live in your living room. Don and Nathan recorded the tunes on Saturday and Sunday morning in Nathan Tinkham’s Gabriola Island studio and the other talented locals were added over time.
